What are talents for?

In life, we will always come across people who, in one way or another, we consider special because of the talent they have to do certain things. For example, there are those with a talent for sports—so much so that they even get paid to perform at the highest professional level. But it’s not only in sports; there are also people who are artists, illustrators, actors, or builders with such great vision that they can design entire communities.

Talents have a huge purpose. And the truth is, most people who have a talent didn’t start because of money. If you ask someone why they began doing what they do, they’ll almost always say, “because I was passionate about it,” not “because I wanted to get paid.”

But just as someone can have a talent… they can also lose it if they don’t understand why they have it.

And here lies the key question: What is the purpose of having a talent if it isn’t for physical or financial gain?

The Bible teaches us: “For everything comes from Him and exists by His power and is intended for His glory. All glory to Him forever! Amen.” (Romans 11:36)

Here, the apostle Paul, guided by the Holy Spirit, explains that everything that comes from God exists to glorify Him.

And that’s the point: this is the purpose of talent. God gave it to us to reflect His glory.

This is why many people—despite having incredible talents—end up lost… because they never understood that their talent was a gift from God, not just to shine, but to honor His name

With all this in mind, I encourage you to discover your talent and the purpose God has assigned to you, so you can be a great blessing.

Last week, the Teen Power Group (TPG) held its Little Giants Talent Show, where all the teens showcased their talents. There was dancing, a band, and theater. The winner received the opportunity to film a professional dance video. There was also a message about talents and the purpose behind them—not only in daily life but also spiritually, which is what’s eternal. All the teens left blessed and happy after this great experience.

We look forward to seeing you at the next one.
