How Does a Successful Person Act?

Imagine you’re in a championship game and your team is losing. The coach calls everyone over and explains the goal and how the team can still win. How do you think you would react?

Many people, when under pressure, get confused, give up, ignore the correct guidance, and struggle to follow the plan that would lead them to victory. What’s even more frustrating in these situations is that sometimes you lose because of something simple—something you practice every day—but in the moment, you forget. You start seeing the opponent as too big to overcome.

This is where you see the difference between the person who wins and the person who loses. In boxing or martial arts matches, commentators always say the same thing when a “special winner” shows up—a different kind of athlete: the athlete stayed calm and listened to their coach in order to win.

Obedience is something very special, especially when one wants to be successful. That’s why the Bible teaches us: “I hurried, I didn’t drag my feet; I was quick to follow Your commands.”
— Psalm 119:60

What commands is the Bible talking about?

It refers to the commandments that come from the Word of God and to what the Lord Jesus taught us. To be victorious in any situation, we must obey His commandments. And more than victorious—when someone obeys, they become someone saved and blessed.

Blessed: one of God’s chosen and an heir of the Holy Spirit.

With that said, don’t allow life’s situations or the voices of the world to determine your victory. Look upward, seek His voice, and above all, obey what the Most High wants from us.

Don’t let victory slip through your fingers.

Every month, the Youth Power Group (YPG) holds events where topics like this one are discussed. This month’s event was called Rewind, where many young people were able to reflect on everything they did throughout the year and on the mindset they should carry into the new year. Everyone left more than blessed.

See you next time.
