At What Price?

Is it possible that human worth is being treated as something for sale?

Have you ever heard the phrase, “evil never stops working”?

Evil is always ready—relentless, strategic, and subtle in its attempts to convince us.
It doesn’t shout; it whispers.
It doesn’t force; it suggests.
And it always attacks the same place: the mind.

Evil treats our soul as if it were constantly up for sale, and many times it tries to make us feel worthless—like a glove that anyone can put on.

But could it be that we’re making it too easy?
That we fall too quickly for the fake shine evil promises?

Evil tells us:

Are you hurting? Take this, it’ll make you feel better.

Just this once, no one will know.

Go ahead, you deserve it.

It’s not that bad.

Evil repeats to you:

You’re weak.

You’re alone.

This can’t change… you can’t change.

You have no value.

Evil always tries to appear pleasing so it can take everything from us, and it comes in many forms to try to humiliate us.

Here is the real question: In exchange for what did you sell yourself?

A moment. Something temporary. Something that, afterward, wasn’t worth it.

That’s why the Bible teaches us:

“And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?”
(Mark 8:36–37)

Jesus is telling us here that nothing can buy, replace, or compare to the value of the soul. We must hold this truth inside us, because only then do we understand how precious it is.

This is why the apostle Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, warned us about doing what is good:

“Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.”
(Romans 12:21)

In other words, evil is defeated by doing good.

“Let’s not get tired of doing what is good…
Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, let us do good to everyone…”

(Galatians 6:9–10)

We must not grow tired of doing good or of taking every opportunity to do so.
Because remember: evil never gets tired.

With that same inspiration, every week the Angels of the Night project goes out to do good. Volunteers bring food, clothing, prayer, and—most importantly—a word of faith to those in need. Everyone who participates leaves deeply blessed.
